Helsinki and Uusimaa Visually Impaired As­so­ci­a­tion

We provide services and peer support for visually impaired people living in the Helsinki and Uusimaa region.

Activities and services for the visually impaired

Helsinki and Uusimaa Visually Impaired Association, also known as HUN, is an advocacy group aiming to promote the opportunities for visually impaired people to live independent lives and participate in society equally. HUN was founded in 1932 and has approximately 2,300 members. Read more about the association, its history and goals.
Digital Support
Digital support guides visually impaired individuals in the use of computers, mobile devices, and Daisy reading devices, both through group and individual instruction.
Member Services
With our Member Services, you can, for example, become a member, order our publications, change your address, get a visually impaired person's card, and receive information on member discounts.
You are welcome to register for membership with HUN if the degree of your visual impairment is at least 50 % and you live within the region of Uusimaa. Please include an official statement of your degree of visual impairment with your membership application form. Applications are available either online or at our premises. We can also send you an application through the post. Contact us, see the contact information at the end of this page.
Members can take part in many of our activities, which include various meetings, day trips, parties, courses, peer support groups and exercise classes. We also offer digital support. Please visit our shop Annansilmät-Aitta, where you can purchase attractive and useful items handcrafted by visually impaired people. Founded in 1932, our association now has roughly 2,300 visually impaired members in addition to four local associations throughout the Uusimaa region. HUN is a regional member association of the Finnish Federation of the Visually Impaired, (Näkövammaisten liitto).
We are the Helsinki and Uusimaa Visually Impaired Association, also known as HUN. We provide services and peer support for visually impaired people living in the Helsinki and Uusimaa region. We also organize a range of recreational activities for our members. It is our mission to ensure accessible public services for people who are partially sighted or blind. Accessibility is the key to living independently and living life to the fullest.
