Digital Support

HUN's digital support helps and gives advice.

The digital support guidance activities of HUN ry are part of our association's member services. Digital support shares information and introduces assistive devices, assists in their implementation, and provides high-quality training on their use. 

Our goal is to strengthen the capabilities of visually impaired individuals to manage independent living, access information, and participate in society. Our target group is visually impaired individuals in Uusimaa who need support in adopting and using IT assistive devices.

Activities

HUN's digital support offers individual guidance sessions both in-person and remotely. Home visits are possible if there is a justified reason and the issue cannot be resolved otherwise. Home visits are charged at €25 per visit.

Group meetings and group guidance sessions, as well as assistive device presentations and meetings at local associations, are conducted in-person, remotely, or as hybrid meetings. In-person meetings require participants to come to the meeting location, while remote meetings use Teams or phone calls. A hybrid format combines these options, allowing participation through any of the aforementioned methods. If needed, digital instructors can provide assistance with participation.

For some in-person meetings, the number of participants is limited and depends on the available space. Some meetings require pre-registration. Individual Guidance

Individual guidance sessions are personalized instructions on using one's own assistive device, provided at HUN's premises in the Iiris Center, as home visits, or at local association member meetings. Guidance appointments are always arranged in advance.

Group Meetings

Among the group meetings, Appinurkat (App Corners) are remotely held sessions that introduce various mobile devices and applications useful for visually impaired individuals. Some applications are available for both iOS and Android devices, while others might be available only for one. If you're interested in a topic and want further guidance on its adoption or use, you can later book a separate individual guidance session.

Digimiitit (Digital Meetups) are meetings with no pre-determined topic, where participants can freely discuss and exchange tips related to information technology. These meetings are held approximately once a month.

Appinurkka sessions are held in the afternoons, and Digimiitit are held closer to the evening. Pre-registration is required for group meetings.

Assistive Device Presentations

Assistive device presentations are remotely or hybrid-arranged meetings organized by digital support in cooperation with other organizations. These presentations are held approximately once a month in the afternoons and are intended for anyone interested in the topic.

Local Association Visits

Digital support collaborates with local associations by organizing assistive device presentations and individual guidance sessions at their member meetings. Digital support visits member meetings on days agreed upon in advance with the local association.

To register for group meetings or individual guidance sessions, you can either send an email to digituki@hun.fi, which reaches all instructors, or call the on-call number 044 720 8644. We answer calls whenever possible, so it's a good idea to leave a message on the answering machine. We regularly check calls, text messages, and voicemail messages.
