Englannin kes­kus­te­lu­kurs­si

Englannin keskustelukurssi 30.9.–11.12. tiistaisin klo 16.00–17.30 Iiris-keskuksessa, HUNin Attila-tilassa (6. kerros).

Englannin keskustelukurssilla kehitetään keskustelutaitoa puhumalla ryhmässä englanniksi erilaisista aiheista opettajan valmistelemia materiaaleja käyttäen.

This course has two main goals: 1) improve your conversational skills in English and 2) and build your confidence in using the language. You will be expected to join in the discussions to the best of your ability. It’s OK to make mistakes; in fact, it’s part of the learning process. The teacher will guide the conversation so that everyone has a chance to speak. 

In this course you will practice and learn how to: 

• Start conversations + introduce yourself and others
• Listen to spoken English
• Make small talk
• Keep a conversation going
• Ask questions
• Show interest in another person and the conversation
• Agree and disagree politely
• Interrupt in a polite way
• Change the subject
• Apologize
• Leave or end a conversation 

Possible topics for the spring include food and cooking, everyday creativity, politics, social media, family, aging, the environment, pet therapists, sports, money, etc. You can also suggest topics for conversation. The teacher will send listening materials related to the lesson topic via email several days before the class. 

The course begins on January 20th. We will meet on Tuesdays from 16:00 to 17:30. We will meet 15 times during the spring term. 

The classes will be held on the HUN premises, on the sixth floor of Iiris. 

The fee for the autumn term is 50 euros.
